Behind the scenes: Production with passion and vision

What makes a strong production? For Marco Strebel, Production Manager at Tool-Temp, it's mainly three things: team spirit, quality and the ability to constantly adapt to new market demands. Since his first days at the company, he has come to appreciate not only the variety of products, but also the strong team spirit within the workforce.

In this interview, Marco gives an exciting insight into his first few months at Tool-Temp, talks about the challenges and opportunities of a production site in Switzerland and reveals what drives him every day.

Immerse yourself in the world of production with us - and meet a man who is contributing to shaping the future of Tool-Temp with plenty of experience, drive and a clear goal in mind.

1. How did you experience your first months at Tool-Temp? Was there anything that surprised you in a positive way?

I immediately felt at home here at Tool-Temp. All my colleagues have been open and helpful and I have never felt alone. I was particularly surprised by the diversity of the product range and the depth of internal value creation.

2. What particular challenges have you and your team faced so far?

Parallel production of the first series of the new MATIC range was a challenge. However, as a team we have overcome this and the products are being well received in the market.

3. What are your visions for the production of Tool-Temp? Are there any special projects or initiatives that are particularly close to your heart?

It is important to me to maintain Switzerland as a production location. This is why we are currently reorganising the production lines with a focus on flexibility, quality and agility. I am convinced that a production site in Switzerland can only survive if it can adapt quickly and easily to market needs or market changes. Tool-Temp has this basis and will now be further developed.

4. What are your priorities to further improve quality and efficiency?

To ensure quality, you need clear processes on the one hand and a broad team on the other. We are currently working on process definitions for various workflows, while at the same time updating the work environment. The teams are being trained and reorganised so that they can deal with my key themes of 'knowledge transfer', 'quality awareness' and 'personal responsibility' in a more targeted and efficient way.

5. How do you feel about the corporate culture at Tool-Temp? Is there anything that particularly inspires you?

I would like to emphasise my production team in particular. I was able to get involved in the various teams in a very short space of time. Right from the start, there was a dialogue on an equal footing, which allowed me to immerse myself in the topics very quickly and get started with change management.

Operating a production site in Switzerland is a challenge in a dynamic and competitive market environment. Our production colleagues have accepted this challenge and prove anew every day what they are capable of and with what admirable commitment they manufacture their products for the various industries of this world.

Tool-Temp AG:

6. What motivates you in your daily work?

The challenge and working with people. For me, there is not much that is more fulfilling than moving mountains together as a team. Even if it often takes a little longer than expected. But you appreciate it all the more afterwards.

7. Is there a professional or personal experience that has had a particular impact on you and that supports you in your role as Production Manager?

In the past, I was able to travel to various countries where my previous employer had production sites. Being able to observe and experience how challenges are tackled and work is realised in other countries and cultures and opening yourself up to impressions, experiences and new approaches enriches your personality. At least that's how it was for me. All of this has had a strong influence on me and helps me every day to tackle issues and sometimes adjust my perspective.

8. What is your personal 'superpower' that helps you keep a cool head in stressful situations?

Experience. I don't think there's any substitute for it.

9. If you had to describe Tool-Temp in three words, what would they be?

  • Familiar
  • Versatile
  • Down to earth
